A strategic alliance
between Cable & Wireless Sweden and Borderlight The new alliance builds mainly on three strengths: international experience, local presence and competition-neutral administration. Cable & Wireless has a strong international position and offers its customers' subscribers access to Cable & Wireless's international fibre network in over 70 countries. Thanks to its international operations, Cable & Wireless has the financial strength that is needed to back its initiatives and provide the security that is necessary for major business ventures. It is strategically important for Cable & Wireless to collaborate closely with a good system and network integrater in Sweden. This enhances our capacity for designing complex local network solutions, thus increasing customer benefit, says Fredrik Engvall, President of Cable & Wireless Sweden. Borderlight has long experience of project management and development of IT for various applications, as well as a prominent local presence in Sweden thanks to its network of partners operating all over the country. Our greatest strength is our ability to build partnerships between various market operators on the basis of a clear definition of what we mean by competitive neutrality, says Sten Oscarsson, President of Borderlight. Such partnerships enhance quality and profitability, thus benefiting everybody - both our partners and their customers. At the same time, they sharpen the focus on content because transport services are more simple, powerful and cost-effective. One of the aims of the alliance between Cable & Wireless and Borderlight is to offer communications solutions to local government and other public sector bodies.
